Cube Climbing Gym

The Cube Climbing Gym is an ambitious project launched by the Kootenay Climbing Association that will be the first indoor climbing facility in the BC interior capable of hosting Olympic-calibre climbing competitions. With input from Studio 9 and other design consultants, the project team decide early on to use a low-carbon construction alternative by utilizing locally engineered wood products. Construction of the gym will be entirely of wood and mass timber supplied by fibre grown in forests here in the Kootenays. Two local companies and project partners, Kalesnikoff and Spearhead will provide technical expertise and supply advanced timber products for the build. Studio 9, along with a team of all local design consultants has come together to provide design services for this very exciting and uniquely Kootenay project.
