Salway-McDowell Residence

This project represents an experimentation in form making. Pre-fabricated roof trusses typically come in a few common profiles but don't need to. On this house, Studio 9 explored what was possbile with pre-manufactured truss shapes and extended this experimentation to walls as well. The home was designed for ultra energy efficiency, targeting LEED Platinum. As with many of Studio 9's subsequent residential projects, the site was extremely steep and challenging which required careful consideration and knowlege in how buildings interact with steep terrain.
