Selkirk College Silver King Campus
Studio 9 teamed with prime consultant and lead architect Stantec for this project. Selkirk College’s Silver King Campus underwent a substantial face lift in 2017 and 2018 spurred by a large provincial/federal grant targeted for campus improvements. The new Student Commons Building is a key part of these improvements and has breathed new life into this once tired campus, giving it a brand new face to welcome its students and visitors. The Student Commons is a social hub for students, faculty, staff, and visitors - a place that encourages social interaction and engagement between the various disciplines of learning offered through the college. A tall 2-storey atrium with an open seating area greets visitors and makes the space feel welcoming. A cafeteria, public washrooms, library/book store, and other student services provide the essential amenities key to all successful and vibrant college campuses. Administration offices on the mezzanine give staff a modern work environment.
