Linear, simple, clean lines – these are some of the words used by our client to describe how they wanted their home.  The unique site is a narrow, elongated bench cut from the rocky talus thrown aside in the creation of the Great Northern Railway, now an actively used rail trail above the home.  On the lee side of the slope northern views peek through a small stand of towering conifers to mountains across from Kootenay Lake below.  Two distinct intersecting building forms clad in unique materials speak a didactic language to describe the use of spaces within the home – communal open areas on the main floor flooded with light and sleeping rooms with quiet privacy and framed views upstairs.  This home perfectly blends the benefits of the city’s amenities and services while offering a sense of privacy and seclusion.
